Milestones restored

Thanks to the help of Complete Utilities, Maisemore's milestones 1 and 3 have been put in place.

The work required the appropriate licences to close one of the carriageways on the A417 for a short time and install traffic lights, so that the work could be done safely.

Complete Utilities have the necessary registration and the staff and equipment to do the job, and they were happy to help out.

Thanks to everyone involved.

James Yardley of Complete Utilities
puts the finishing touches to the
installation of the 1 mile stone.
James Yardley, (Marion's son), oversaw the work and we are most grateful for his professional operation and the compliance with Highways requirements. The result is just great. We are also most grateful to David McDougal for the production of the cast iron plaques for the Maisemore Local History Society. The two mile plaque is with Chris Jones and, it is understood, will be affixed shortly to the stone which stands in the fence line of Cath Brearley's Milestone Cottage.
